Behind the Scenes – Twin Peaks Eiger-Mönch – Part 4: The Graphic Design

Eiger Mönch Visual Identity

When it came time to design the Twin Peaks Eiger-Mönch, I wanted the visual identity to speak the same language as the sound: clear, spacious, thoughtful, and unmistakably Swiss.

As with every pedal I design at RhPf Electronics, I began by listening. Thomas played me the key settings that define what makes this delay special — the contrast between the two delay lines, the interplay of warmth and brightness, the way each echo shifted the mood without overwhelming it.

Eiger-Mönch Visual Identity

Right away, we both had the same instinct:
“It should feel like Toblerone.”

The triangular shape, iconic and instantly recognizable, became a playful yet powerful reference point. It’s not just chocolate — it’s a symbol of Swiss precision, quality, and identity. That became the backbone of the Eiger-Mönch Visual Identity.

A Minimalist Tribute to the Alps

I created a vertical minimalist illustration of the Eiger and Mönch — the very mountain peaks that inspired the pedal’s name. Their silhouettes are snow-capped and drawn with clean white outlines, forming a sharp, elegant horizon line. The background is a soft pastel sky blue, echoing a crisp alpine atmosphere on a clear day.

This color choice wasn’t arbitrary. It evokes serenity, stillness, and that sense of elevation — the kind of feeling you get standing at the base of a mountain looking up.

We chose light cream knobs and typography — almost white, but with a gentle warmth — to complement the blue in a way that feels natural and timeless. And in the center, the bright blue LED was deliberately chosen to mimic the glary brilliance of sunlight reflecting off snow. It’s a small detail that carries a big piece of the Alpine vibe.

This is the essence of the Eiger-Mönch Visual Identity: clean, elegant, grounded in place — but full of depth if you know where to look.

Simple on the Surface, Complex Beneath

Though the control layout is simple and intuitive, the circuit underneath is quite complex — just like the Alps themselves. Shaped over millennia by pressure, collision, and movement, mountain ranges are the result of time. And what is delay, if not the manipulation of time?

I wanted the minimalist design to reflect that idea: Simplicity above. Complexity below.
It’s a pedal that looks easy to approach — because it is — but has layers to explore, just like a well-worn hiking trail that keeps surprising you the higher you climb.

That’s the balance I aimed for with the Eiger-Mönch Visual Identity — to visually honor both the clarity of the user experience and the richness of what’s happening inside.

More Than a Graphic

To me, this design isn’t just about lines and color. It’s about expressing what this pedal feels like. The openness of the sky. The sharp cut of a peak. The calmness in motion. The quiet power of echo.

Twin Peaks Eiger-Mönch isn’t just a delay — it’s a conversation between space and time.
And I hope the Eiger-Mönch Visual Identity helps tell that story before a single note is played.
