The Story Behind the Moschops Tremolo Pedal Name
Every pedal name at RhPf Electronics begins with a spark — a mood, a texture, a story. With Moschops, that story had three roots: an ancient creature, a technical pun, and the pounding rhythmic feel that only a tremolo can provide. The result? A name that’s as playful and primal as the effect itself.
The Prehistoric Beast

The Moschops was a chunky, thick-headed herbivore from the Permian era. Looking somewhere between a hippo and a dinosaur, it instantly felt familiar — in fact, it reminded us of our spirit animal here at RhPf: the Rheinpferd, or Rhine Horse. That prehistoric hippo vibe aligned beautifully with our branding, with its strong, quirky, unmistakable silhouette. When we stumbled upon the name, it felt like we’d discovered a long-lost ancestor.
MOSFET Meets “Chops”
The real joy of naming pedals is the blend of science and soul. This is a MOSFET-based circuit, and like the animal, it moves with force and character. The “chops” part? That’s all tremolo — that rhythmic, percussive pulse that cuts through a mix and gives your tone a living, breathing movement. Put the two together, and you’ve got Moschops: a perfect pun, but also a clear reflection of what the pedal is all about — raw dynamics, personality, and power.
A Spirit in Motion
Tremolo effects often live in the background, but we wanted this one to have presence — something you could blend in, shape dynamically, or drive out front. With its MOSFET heart and flexible control layout, Moschops lets you sculpt everything from subtle waves to jagged terrain. It’s the perfect evolution of the tremolo lineage — prehistoric in name, modern in tone.
