Naming it, however, turned out to be one of the most unexpectedly challenging yet rewarding parts of the journey.
Strength, Complexity, and Purpose
The name needed to evoke strength, complexity, and purpose. This pedal isn’t just a tool; it’s a crafted experience. Its triple-band architecture, designed around MOSFET transistors, allows for nuanced tonal control, making it more than just a boost pedal—it’s a sonic enhancer. And thus, the word phalanx—a term for a tightly-knit group of warriors—felt fitting. It represented both the precision of the pedal’s design and the unity of its three distinct bands working in harmony.
The Meaning Behind “Tri-Hormonic”
But why Tri-Hormonic? This was a more personal choice. The name is inspired by my ongoing journey with acromegaly, a condition caused by excess growth hormone. My struggles with hormone regulation have been life-altering, shaping not only my personal life but also my creative vision. The tri in the name nods to the pedal’s triple-band architecture while also symbolizing balance—something I strive for both in my designs and my health.
