Designed to be brutal yet dynamic, Mo(s)ghoul doesn’t rely on traditional clipping diodes or external soft-clipping elements. Instead, it stacks multiple MOSFET gain stages in series, progressively increasing saturation while maintaining a responsive, amp-like feel.

Unlike typical distortion pedals that achieve clipping through a single stage or diode-based soft clipping, Mo(s)ghoul builds distortion naturally through four cascading MOSFET gain stages. Each stage adds more gain, harmonics, and saturation, with the final stages delivering fully saturated, thick distortion.

Mo(s)ghoul’s three-band EQ is passive, meaning it shapes rather than boosts frequencies. Positioned after the main gain stages, this EQ allows you to sculpt the final tone while preserving the pedal’s organic response.

  • Lows – Controls the amount of low-end presence, from tight and punchy to thick and heavy.
  • Mids – Adjusts the midrange, letting you emphasize or scoop the crucial mid frequencies.
  • Highs – Dials in the treble response, from smooth and dark to sharp and aggressive.

Since this is a passive tone stack, the controls work by cutting frequencies rather than boosting them, interacting naturally with the gain structure rather than overpowering it.


Final Gain Stage and Output Control

Once the signal is shaped, it passes through the final gain stage, ensuring consistency and proper output levels. The Level control sets the overall volume, allowing you to match it to your amp or use it as a high-gain preamp boost.

Because Mo(s)ghoul does not use clipping diodes, the clipping is entirely MOSFET-driven, giving it a more natural, tube-like breakup that responds dynamically to your guitar and playing style.
