At the end of next week, the RhPf Electronics online shop will close for a little while.
Orders will remain open until Thursday, July 30 at midnight. Our final trip to the post office will be on Friday, July 31, and every order placed before the deadline will be shipped before we step away.
We expect the shop to remain closed for most, or possibly all, of August. We do not yet know exactly when we will reopen, and for once, we are not going to make plans too far ahead.
Because on Monday, August 3, our son Louie will be born.
A Dream We Have Carried for Years
Louie is not simply the next chapter of our lives. He is a dream that Simone and I have carried for a very long time.
For years, we tried to have a child without knowing why it was not happening. Then came my diagnosis with acromegaly, the discovery of a very large pituitary tumour, major surgery, complications, and the loss of my pituitary function.
Life became a sequence of treatments, hormone replacements, injections, appointments and uncertainty. We hoped that once the tumour had been treated and my hormones replaced, things might finally work.
They still did not.
Later, we discovered that I also carry CFTR mutations that affected my fertility. That led to another surgery, and eventually to treatment at the Kinderwunschklinik.
The road was longer and harder than either of us could have imagined. There were moments when it felt as though this dream might always remain out of reach.
But we kept going.
And somehow, after everything, we made it.
Now He Is Almost Here
In just a few days, Louie will be here.
It is difficult to put into words what that means to us. After everything that happened, after all the uncertainty, fear, operations, treatments and waiting, we are finally about to meet our son.
For Simone and I, becoming a parent has been a dream of a lifetime. Reaching this moment after everything my body and our lives have been through feels almost impossible to comprehend.
We are deeply grateful.
Grateful to the doctors, nurses and specialists who helped us, to the people who supported us when things were difficult. Grateful to everyone who believed with us that this might still happen.
And most of all, grateful that Louie is coming.
Family First
RhPf Electronics means an enormous amount to us. Every pedal, every order, every conversation and every person who has supported our work has helped turn this strange little dream of ours into something real.
But for the next few weeks, Louie will be our only priority.
We want to give him the best possible welcome into this world. We want to be fully present for those first days, those first nights, and all the moments that will never happen twice.
That means stepping away from the shop without a fixed reopening date. We may return during August, or we may need a little longer. We will reopen when we feel ready and when we can give RhPf the care and attention it deserves again.
Until then, thank you for your patience, your understanding and your support.
This has been the longest journey of our lives.
Now the part we dreamed about is finally beginning.
With love and gratitude,
Thomas & Simone
