This week, the RhPf Electronics Tone Maps were featured on Guitar Pedal X (GPX), one of the most respected online platforms for pedal fans. The article by Stefan Karlsson calls the Tone Maps “a superb resource for pedal enthusiasts and professionals alike.”
What GPX Said
Stefan Karlsson described the Tone Maps as “an incredible pedal resource which I already use a lot.” He added that it “plots, maps and compares the output profiles of a large variety of devices.”
He highlighted how users can “compare up to five pedals at a time or even stack them together to view combined output profiles.” This makes it easy to explore how effects interact and shape tone.
Karlsson also praised the clean interface and the smart Color Safe mode. It helps players read curves clearly while comparing pedals like the Klon Centaur, Tube Screamer, or Boss HM-2. He concluded by calling the tool “a magnificent and extensive resource and conduit.”
What the Tone Maps Are
The Tone Maps belong to the RhPf Nerd Lab, a free collection of tools for players, builders, and tinkerers. They visualize EQ fingerprints of pedals and show how circuits shape sound.
With Tone Maps, you can load and compare up to five pedals at once. You can also Stack them to simulate pedal chains, or Freeze snapshots of knob positions to see how settings change tone. In addition, the Share and Embed buttons make it easy to post results on forums or blogs.
Community members take part through the Tone Map Wishlist. When a suggested pedal reaches ten votes, it usually gets traced and uploaded within a few days. This keeps the database fresh and growing.
Trusted Resources
Where available, the Tone Maps connect to trusted external resources such as Loopy Demos, PedalPCB, PedalPedia, and ElectroSmash. These links let you explore each circuit in more depth, hear real audio demos, and view technical analyses or PCB layouts. Together, they give you a complete picture of how every pedal looks, sounds, and works.
