Responsible by design
We build pedals that sound great and tread lightly. RhPf Electronics it’s us, a couple-run super fine guitar pedal company based in Basel, Switzerland, creating original circuits with practical, low-impact choices at every step. Our mission is simple: to design sustainable guitar pedals that combine innovation, durability, and responsibility.
No batteries by design
All RhPf pedals run on external power supplies only. We do not include battery clips or battery compartments. As a result, fewer batteries end up in landfills and fewer replacements need to be shipped. This choice is an essential part of building eco-friendly pedals. Don’t use batteries you pigs!
Energy Saving
We design our circuits to be efficient. The entire lineup averages just 10 mA of power draw, and this is well below what many major brands offer. As a result, every RhPf pedal is a low power consumption pedal that fits easily into modern pedalboards while saving energy.
Safe materials and compliance
- All electronic parts we source are RoHS compliant.
- Our tools are modern, energy efficient, and comply with environmental regulations.
- We use lead free solder wire and paste.
- Our back label shows the compliance marks that apply to all our products.
By choosing modern and safe materials, we ensure that every RhPf pedal meets and goes beyond today’s environmental standards and protects both players and the planet.
Responsible Component Choices
Our circuits rely on modern, currently manufactured components that are stable, efficient, and environmentally responsible. We avoid obsolete or hazardous parts such as germanium transistors, which are inconsistent, toxic to produce, and nearly impossible to source sustainably. Instead of chasing myths or nostalgia, we focus on scientifically sound design using components that deliver reliable performance, low power consumption, and long-term availability.
Every part we choose reflects our belief that good tone comes from smart engineering, not from luck or aging materials.
Packaging that respects resources
- Product boxes come from Packly in Italy. Packly holds FSC, PEFC, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, and BRC Packaging Materials certifications, which support responsible forestry, environmental management, and safe packaging production.
- In addition, the artwork on our boxes includes eco and compliance marks for the board and inks used.
Plastic-free shipping
All RhPf Electronics parcels use ratioform packaging products supplied by Kaiserkraft Switzerland. These materials come from within Europe and are made from recycled, recyclable, and biodegradable sources.
We never use bubble wrap, plastic air pillows, or plastic tape. Instead, we prepare every shipment in a ratioform Blitzbox made from FSC-certified recycled cardboard. We seal each box with kraft paper tape and cushion it using Flo-Pak® BIO (terra) compostable loose-fill together with ratioform Terra fiber mats.
The Flo-Pak® BIO (terra) chips consist of plant-based starch, water, and 99.6% air. They are EN 13432-certified compostable and biodegradable, and they break down naturally without leaving microplastics. Because they are lightweight, antistatic, and moisture-resistant, they provide excellent protection for electronics.
The Terra fiber mats come from recycled plant fibers. They are fully compostable and add a breathable layer of protection that keeps the packaging clean and plastic free.
From the outer box to the filler, we use materials that are recycled, recyclable, or biodegradable. By sourcing everything within Europe, we reduce transport emissions and keep our packaging process sustainable. Every step of our shipping routine reflects the same care and responsibility that we put into building our pedals.
Local and Sustainable Stickers

We source all of our back labels and stickers from StickerYeti, a Swiss company based in Sion that shares our commitment to sustainable production. Everything is made locally in Switzerland using carefully selected materials and inks, combining the durability we need with a much lighter environmental footprint.
For our pedals, we chose StickerYeti’s PlantBased stickers, made with up to 94% bio-based content according to EN 16640. Instead of conventional PVC, the material uses polymers derived from renewable plant sources such as sugarcane, hemp, corn and algae. It is PVC-free, BPA-free, PFAS-free and contains no plasticizers, and even the protective laminate is bio-based. A permanent, solvent-free acrylic adhesive keeps the labels where they belong: on the pedal, not in the bin.
And the material is only part of the story. StickerYeti’s production process relies on 91% renewable energy from hydroelectric, solar, wind, biomass and geothermal sources. Waste materials such as inks, fabrics and packaging are recycled through specialized partners, while their facilities are heated using energy-efficient heat pumps.
StickerYeti also uses GREENGUARD Gold UL 2818-certified eco-solvent inks, designed for extremely low VOC emissions and suitable even for sensitive indoor environments such as schools and healthcare facilities. Their own FSC Mix-certified packaging is made from 73% recycled fibres and sourced locally to further reduce unnecessary transport.
By partnering with StickerYeti, we support Swiss-made, low-impact production while making a better material choice for something that becomes a permanent part of every RhPf pedal. Our serial-number labels aren’t disposable packaging or promotional stickers; they’re made to stay with the pedal throughout its life. Durable, thoughtfully made, and a little less dependent on fossil-based plastic, exactly how we like things!
Efficient workshop habits

We build every pedal using modern, energy-efficient soldering equipment that keeps power use low and precision high. Our workstations feature the Weller Erem WE 1010, designed and assembled in Germany by Weller Tools GmbH. This station offers precise temperature control and automatically reduces power consumption when idle.
For soldering, we rely on Stannol Kristall 611 lead-free solder made in Germany. Its alloy of 96.5% tin, 3% silver, and 0.5% copper meets RoHS standards and includes a 2.5% flux core for clean, reliable joints with minimal smoke or residue. The Kristall 611 formulation ensures strong electrical connections and long-term reliability without affecting tone or signal integrity.
By combining efficient tools with responsible materials, we maintain a workshop that is precise, safe, and aligned with our sustainability principles. We also choose local and trusted suppliers to cut unnecessary transport and reduce our footprint.
