Why RhPf goes further than sound

At RhPf Electronics, tone is usually where the conversation starts. However, it has never been the whole story. From the beginning, this project has grown out of real life challenges and the values we stand for, and that reality still guides how we build, who we work with, and why we choose to give back.

Because music does not exist in isolation, neither do the people who make it. Over time, it became clear that building pedals also means staying connected to the community around us, not only through gear, but through shared challenges, local scenes, and the everyday realities musicians face.

That is where “Beyond the Tone” comes in.

Rather than focusing only on products, this space exists to show what RhPf stands for and how we try to act on those values. It brings together personal health awareness, local solidarity, environmental responsibility, and direct support for players. All of these grow from the same mindset: if music matters to people, then the people behind the music matter too.

From personal experience to shared responsibility

In many ways, RhPf grew out of a moment when health and priorities had to be reconsidered. During that time, music did not become less important. If anything, it became more essential, both as a creative outlet and as a way to stay grounded when things felt uncertain.

That experience explains why we speak openly about acromegaly, why we care about awareness, and why early diagnosis matters. It also explains why we believe brands do not need to hide the human stories behind their work. Life shapes music, and music shapes life, so separating the two never felt honest to us.

As a result, Beyond the Tone is not about telling a dramatic story. Instead, it is about acknowledging that creative work and real life stay closely linked, whether we talk about it openly or not.

Staying connected to the community we build in

At the same time, being part of a community also means giving something back to it. That is why we support local initiatives such as ThanksGiver Schweiz, a Basel-based food bank that reduces food waste while helping people who struggle to make ends meet.

While we cannot always volunteer directly, staying financially and socially involved still matters to us. By donating part of our revenue and using our platform to raise awareness, we stay connected to the city we build in and to the people who live here.

In addition, we treat collaboration with local bands, artists, builders, and shops as a natural part of being in the same scene, not as a marketing strategy. Music culture grows through relationships and shared spaces, not through follower counts.

Supporting players when life gets in the way

Beyond the Tone is also where RhPf Backing Track lives.

Backing Track exists because sometimes the biggest obstacle to making music is not motivation, but circumstances. When life becomes complicated, access to gear and creative space can quickly drop down the priority list, even though playing may be the very thing that keeps someone balanced.

For that reason, Backing Track works as a flexible and human way of supporting players. In some cases, that means helping someone access gear. In others, it simply means starting a conversation and finding a solution that fits the moment. What matters is not ticking boxes, but keeping people connected to music when they need it most.

Because playing should never be the thing you have to give up.

Building responsibly, not just efficiently

Finally, going beyond the tone also means taking responsibility for how we build. From component choices to power consumption, from packaging to shipping materials, sustainability shapes how we design and operate.

We avoid unnecessary waste, rely on modern and safe components, and work with partners who share similar priorities when it comes to environmental impact. Not because it looks good on a checklist, but because it feels inconsistent to care about people while ignoring the footprint we leave behind.

In the long run, building pedals that last, and building them responsibly, is part of respecting both musicians and the world they live in.

Holding ourselves, and each other, to the same standard

Everything we build at RhPf depends on trust, respect, and a shared sense of responsibility toward the people around us. Because of that, anyone who collaborates with us, represents the brand, or becomes part of the RhPf Family is expected to treat others with the same care and basic decency that we try to show ourselves.

That means we do not tolerate behavior that harms people or poisons the community. This includes hate speech, harassment, bullying, discrimination of any kind, or actions meant to damage trust through personal attacks or misinformation.

At the same time, this standard goes both ways. We hold ourselves to the same expectations, and we take responsibility for how we communicate, who we work with, and how we respond when problems arise.
