Building a Fuzz Around Movement

Mosrawr isn’t just another wall-of-fuzz pedal. It was designed to feel alive, to move, shift, and react as you play. Instead of chasing raw volume or saturation alone, it focuses on how those elements evolve through the gain structure. Each stage shapes the texture differently, so the sound builds rather than blurs.

It started as an experiment: what if we placed the mid frequencies inside the drive path instead of before or after it? That single idea defined the circuit.

The Dual-Stage Drive Concept

At the front sits a MOSFET-based boost that forms the pedal’s foundation. From there, the signal moves into the first gain control, part of a dual-ganged Drive knob. This first half sets the input drive level and controls how hard the signal hits the midrange section.

In the center of the circuit lies a state-variable mid filter tuned around 500 Hz with a focused Q. It’s the voice of the pedal, that vocal, growling character that cuts through even the densest mix. Then, the second half of the Drive knob boosts again after this filter, shaping the upper harmonics and tightening the response.

The result is a gain control that feels more organic than linear. It doesn’t just add distortion, it shifts how the mids breathe and how the fuzz responds under your fingers.

Tone Shaping With Intention

After the gain core, Mosrawr opens into a tone network that defines its overall character:

  • Bass (≈110 Hz): adjusts the body and low-end push, from lean and defined to massive and saturated.
  • Mid (≈500 Hz): sculpts the heart of the sound, the growl that makes the fuzz feel vocal and three-dimensional.
  • Treble (≈2.3 kHz): adds clarity and presence, balancing aggression with openness.

These filters interact naturally, so adjusting one changes how the others feel. It’s not about boosting or cutting, it’s about steering the fuzz’s personality.

Layers of MOSFET Texture

Every stage of Mosrawr uses MOSFETs for their musical, tube-like compression. They react dynamically, turning pick attack into texture and sustain into tone. After the tone section, an additional gain stage refines the upper harmonics while maintaining articulation. The end result is a fuzz that feels dense yet detailed, powerful, but never smothering.

Whether you use it for shoegaze walls, droning soundscapes, or punchy riffs, Mosrawr adapts to your rig and playing style. It thrives in layered signal chains, blending beautifully with delay, reverb, and modulation without losing definition.

The circuit was designed to give you range: from warm, chewy drive to roaring, textured fuzz. Every note stays full, every chord stays present, and the response stays musical at any setting.
