A Roar from the Past
Some names just appear out of nowhere, others growl their way into existence.
Mosrawr was one of those.
When Thomas first told me about the circuit, he described it as raw, heavy, and full of bite, the kind of distortion that doesn’t politely knock, it kicks the door in. I immediately thought of something primal, like a creature that’s been asleep for ages and suddenly wakes up hungry.
Behind the Name Mosrawr
I wanted a name that felt animalistic but still playful, something that would capture that duality between chaos and charm. “Mosrawr” came naturally, a tongue-in-cheek fusion of MOSFET and the sound of a prehistoric roar. It made me smile, but it also fit. It’s funny and fierce at the same time, a perfect reflection of the pedal’s tone.
The word itself feels like an onomatopoeia, you can almost hear it: rawr!
It’s unpolished, a little wild, and totally unpretentious. That’s what I love about it.
A Sound with Teeth
Mosrawr isn’t about refinement. It’s about energy, that slightly dangerous edge that makes things exciting. The name had to sound like something alive, something that doesn’t just distort your tone but gives it claws.
And once I said it out loud, I knew there was no going back.
Mosrawr was exactly what this pedal was meant to be: a raw, roaring little beast with a smile.
